Nick Collison Autographs
Nick Collison is a retired American professional basketball player. Collison was born in Orange City, Iowa on October 26, 1980. He attended high school in Iowa and played college basketball at the University of Kansas. He was a standout college player, earning All-American honors his final year at Kansas. He did two seasons in NCAA, averaging 12.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and shooting 61.8% from the field.
Collison was drafted by the Seattle Supersonics (now Oklahoma City Thunder) in the first round of the 2003 NBA draft, with the twelfth overall pick. In his first NBA season, he played 82 games, starting in 39 of them, and averaged 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He quickly became known for his defensive tenacity and his ability to offensive rebounding. Collison played a vital role in the team's success as the Thunder advanced to the NBA Finals in 2012. Collison played a total of 15 seasons in the NBA, and on May 10, 2018, he announced his retirement.
Throughout his career, Collison was known for his durability, leadership, and selflessness. He consistently put the team's success ahead of individual statistics and was a mentor to younger players on the Thunder roster. In his first season with the Thunder, he received the Brian Hill Community Assist Award for his outstanding work in the community. Collison will always be remembered as an integral part of the Oklahoma City Thunder and his contributions to the team's success. The team retired his jersey number 4 on March 20, 2019, making him the first player in the history of the Oklahoma City franchise to have his jersey retired.
