Pervis Ellison, also known as "Never Nervous Pervis," was born on April 3, 1967, in Savannah, Georgia. Ellison began his basketball career at Louisville, where he led the Cardinals to a National Championship in 1986. He was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Final Four, thanks to his outstanding performance in the title game against Duke. In the 1989 NBA Draft, Pervis was the first overall pick by the Sacramento Kings. He spent his first three seasons with the Kings and was named NBA Rookie of the Year in 1990. Ellison's NBA career was plagued by injuries, and he missed a total of 335 games due to health concerns.
