Reece Gaines is an American former professional basketball player who played for various NBA teams during his career. He was born on January 7, 1981, in Madison, Wisconsin, and was raised in Louisville, Kentucky. Gaines discovered his love for basketball at a young age and became a standout player in high school, leading his team to the state championship title twice. Following his impressive performance, Gaines was offered a scholarship to attend the University of Louisville.
At Louisville, Gaines continued to excel on the basketball court, and his skills quickly caught the eye of NBA scouts. He was later selected as the 15th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic. Gaines played for several NBA teams, including the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, and New Jersey Nets. However, his professional basketball career was hindered by various injuries, which led to him being waived by a number of teams.
Despite his injuries, Gaines remained a determined and resilient player. He continued to work hard, eventually earning a spot on the Italian basketball team Benetton Treviso in 2008. In his first game for the team, he scored an incredible 33 points, proving his worth as a skilled and talented player. Gaines ended his professional basketball career in 2014 and is currently an assistant coach at his alma mater, the University of Louisville.
