Rex Chapman is a former American professional basketball player. Born on October 5, 1967, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, he started playing basketball at an early age. Chapman graduated from Apollo High School, where he led the Eagles to a state championship in 1986. He then attended the University of Kentucky, where he played for the Wildcats from 1986-1988. After two seasons at Kentucky, Chapman was selected with the eighth overall pick in the 1988 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets. He played for the Hornets for three seasons, where he was known for his electrifying dunks and long-range shooting. Chapman then played for the Washington Bullets, Miami Heat, and Phoenix Suns before retiring from the NBA in 2000. During his NBA career, Chapman averaged 14.6 points per game, 2.6 rebounds per game, and 2.1 assists per game.
