Rick Mahorn Autographs
Rick Mahorn is a former professional basketball player who spent his entire career in the NBA. Born on September 21st, 1958, in Hartford, Connecticut, Mahorn grew up playing basketball and football. However, it was basketball that stuck with him, and he went on to play at college level, attending Hampton University. Mahorn was later selected in the second round of the 1980 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets.
Mahorn's physicality on the court was a major factor in his success as a basketball player. At 6’10 and 240 pounds, he had the perfect build for a power forward. During his 18-year career, he played for the Washington Bullets, Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, and the Grand Rapids Hoops. Mahorn became known for his tough, hard-nosed approach to the game, and he earned the nickname, "The Baddest Bad Boy of 'em All" due to his aggressive style of play. He won an NBA championship with the Detroit Pistons in 1989, and he was also named an NBA All-Star in 1989.
After retiring from basketball, Mahorn transitioned to coaching, starting as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers. He later joined the Detroit Shock of the WNBA as an assistant coach in 2005, and in 2008 he became the head coach, leading his team to a WNBA championship in the same year. Mahorn is now an analyst for the Pistons' radio broadcasts and is often seen on ESPN's NBA coverage. His physical and intimidating style of play has made him a fan favourite and a legend in the game of basketball.
