Rick Mount Autographs
Rick Mount was an accomplished basketball player who rose to national prominence during his time at Purdue University. Born on January 5, 1947 in Lebanon, Indiana, Mount made a name for himself as a junior at Lebanon High School where he led his team to back-to-back state championships. He would go on to break Oscar Robertson's state tournament scoring record with a spectacular 46-point performance against Gary Roosevelt High School in 1965. Mount's basketball prowess earned him a scholarship to Purdue University where he became one of college basketball's stars during the late 1960s.
At Purdue University, Mount further cemented his status as one of the best basketball players in the country, scoring 2,323 points and earning three First-Team All-Big Ten selections from 1968 to 1970. Despite his impressive individual accomplishments, Mount was unable to lead his team to a national championship. Purdue lost in the NCAA Tournament in both 1969 and 1970, with Mount scoring a combined 84 points in those two games. Nevertheless, Mount's impressive college career did not go unnoticed, and he was selected as a consensus first-team All-American in 1970.
Following his college career, Mount was drafted by the Indiana Pacers of the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He ultimately decided to sign with the Pacers, where he played for four seasons from 1970 to 1974. Despite dealing with injuries, Mount was a productive player for the Pacers, averaging 18.4 points per game and earning two All-Star selections. Later in life, he was inducted into both the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in recognition of his impressive basketball career.
