Rod Strickland is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 17 seasons from 1988 to 2005. Strickland was born on July 11, 1966, in the Bronx borough of New York City. He attended DePaul University in Chicago, where he played college basketball for the DePaul Blue Demons. Strickland was selected in the second round of the 1988 NBA draft by the New York Knicks. He played for several teams over the course of his career, including the San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers, Washington Wizards, and Miami Heat.
