Ron Mercer Autographs
Ron Mercer is a former American professional basketball player who had a successful NBA career. He was born on May 18, 1976, in Nashville, Tennessee, where he began playing basketball at an early age. Mercer was a standout player at Goodpasture Christian School, where he led his team to the state championship in 1994.
After high school, Mercer attended the University of Kentucky, where he became a standout player for the Kentucky Wildcats under head coach Rick Pitino. During his sophomore year, he helped the team win the NCAA National Championship, and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Mercer went on to become a two-time All-American and was selected as the sixth overall pick in the 1997 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. He played for several teams during his NBA career, including the Denver Nuggets and the New Jersey Nets.
Despite a successful career, Mercer's playing time was limited by numerous injuries, including a torn ACL during his time with the Chicago Bulls. He retired from basketball in 2005, finishing his career with an average of 13.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Mercer was praised for his scoring ability, as he possessed strong midrange shooting and a deceptive first step. Today, he is considered one of the top basketball players to come out of the state of Tennessee.
