Sam Perkins Autographs
Sam Perkins is a former professional basketball player who played for several teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) during his career. Perkins was born on June 14, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York, and attended high school in Latham, New York. He then went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he played basketball for the Tar Heels under the famous coach, Dean Smith. In his senior year, Perkins helped lead the Tar Heels to a national championship, and he was named to the All-American team.
After college, Perkins was selected fourth overall in the 1984 NBA draft by the Dallas Mavericks. He played for the Mavericks from 1984 to 1990, and during that time, he established himself as one of the top power forwards in the league. He then went on to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, the Seattle SuperSonics, and the Indiana Pacers before retiring in 2001. Perkins was known for his versatility on the court, as he could score, rebound, and defend at a high level. He was also known for his smooth shooting stroke, with a high release point that made it difficult for defenders to block his shot.
Perkins was a key member of the 1991 NBA championship-winning Lakers team, and he was also a two-time NBA All-Star. Perkins played in over 1,200 NBA games in his career and scored over 15,000 points. He was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 2019, and his legacy as one of the top power forwards of his era remains intact. After his playing career, Perkins became a philanthropist, real estate developer, and basketball analyst.
