Sheryl Swoopes Autographs
Sheryl Swoopes was born on March 25, 1971, in Brownfield, Texas, and is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Her basketball career began in high school, where she led her team to the state championships and earned MVP honors twice. She also played for South Plains College, where she was named National Junior College Player of the Year before transferring to Texas Tech University.
At Texas Tech, Swoopes made a huge impact, leading the Lady Raiders to the NCAA Championship title in 1993. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament after scoring 47 points in the championship game, which set a record for most points scored in an NCAA title game. She went on to win two more National Player of the Year awards and was named the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player three times. Swoopes was also a three-time All-American and still holds several school records at Texas Tech.
After college, Swoopes continued her basketball career in the WNBA, where she played for several teams, including the Houston Comets, where she won four WNBA championships. She was also a six-time WNBA All-Star and named the league's MVP three times. She continued to play professionally until 2011, and in 2016, she was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Swoopes inspired many young women to pursue basketball and is remembered as a pioneer of the sport.
