Skylar Diggins was born on August 2, 1990, in South Bend, Indiana. She discovered her love for basketball at a young age and grew up playing with her brothers. Diggins attended Washington High School, where she became one of the best basketball players in the state. She was a four-year varsity starter and led her team to four straight state championship games, winning three.
After her high school career, Diggins chose to attend the University of Notre Dame, where she continued to excel on the basketball court. In her freshman year, she helped lead the Fighting Irish to the NCAA championship game. She was named the Big East Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Big East First Team. Diggins continued to impress in her following three seasons, leading Notre Dame to two more Final Four appearances and finishing her college career with over 2,300 points scored.
Diggins was drafted in the first round of the 2013 WNBA draft by the Tulsa Shock (now the Dallas Wings). She quickly established herself as one of the best point guards in the league, earning Rookie of the Year honors in her first season. Diggins has continued to improve every year, earning three All-Star selections and multiple All-WNBA Team selections. She has also played overseas during the WNBA offseason, gaining experience while playing in various leagues. Diggins has become a role model for young girls and women, using her platform to promote equality and social justice causes.
