Slick Watts Autographs
Slick Watts, born in 1951 in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, is a former professional basketball player who played in the NBA from 1973 to 1980. He is widely known for his quick speed and vibrant personality on the court, as well as his signature hairstyle - a head full of tightly-curled locks. Watts acquired his nickname "Slick" due to his impressive dribbling skills.
Watts started his basketball career at Alcorn State University, where he played college basketball for four years before joining the NBA. In the 1973 NBA Draft, Slick was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics as the 52nd overall pick. It was in this team that he had his most remarkable years in the professional league. He played a total of 474 games with the SuperSonics and recorded an average of 16 minutes of playtime and 6.2 points per game. Despite not being a prolific scorer, Watts was known for his aggressive defensive gameplay and was feared by his opponents for his lightning-fast steals.
After retiring from the NBA in 1980, Slick Watts began a coaching career while also working in the community, founding a nonprofit organization to help youth in the Seattle area. In recognition of his contributions, he was inducted into the Seattle Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Today, Watts remains an influential figure in the basketball world and serves as an ambassador for the sport, engaging in various community outreach programs and promoting basketball as an effective tool for social mobility.
