He attended Abraham Lincoln High School where he honed his basketball skills and became one of the top high school players in the country. After his NBA career ended, Marbury found success playing in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He joined the Beijing Ducks in 2011 and led them to three CBA championships in four years. He also became a fan favorite and was nicknamed "Ma Bu Li" (馬布里) by Chinese fans. Marbury retired from basketball in 2018 and has since become a successful businessman, developing his own basketball sneakers and opening a basketball academy in China.
