Tiago Splitter Autographs
Tiago Splitter is a former Brazilian professional basketball player born on January 1, 1985, in Blumenau, Brazil. He began his basketball career in Brazil before signing with Tau Ceramica in Spain in 2000. He played seven seasons with Tau Ceramica, where he won numerous titles, including two Spanish League championships and the Euroleague title in 2010. His performances with Tau Ceramica saw him drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the 2007 NBA draft.
Splitter joined the Spurs in 2010 and became an integral part of their team, playing as a power forward and center. He was renowned for his exceptional footwork, ball handling and ability to finish strong around the rim. In his first NBA season, he helped the Spurs reach the Western Conference Finals, where they lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He continued to improve in subsequent seasons as he formed a formidable frontcourt partnership with Tim Duncan, helping the Spurs win the NBA championship in 2014 by averaging 7.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game that season.
After his successful spell with the Spurs, Splitter joined the Atlanta Hawks for the 2015-16 season. An injury-plagued stay in Atlanta saw him only play 36 games in his first season. In 2017, he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played only eight games before his contract was bought out. His NBA career was brought to an end after he sustained a serious hip injury, after which he announced his retirement in February 2018. Splitter represented Brazil in various international events, including the Olympics, and is highly regarded in his home country as one of the best basketball players of all time.
