Tom Gola was an American basketball player and coach who gained immense fame for his skills as a forward during the 1950s. He was born in Philadelphia in 1933, where he first started playing basketball at La Salle College High School. Gola was a four-time All-America selection and led La Salle to win the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) championship in 1952, and the NCAA championship in 1954. During this time, he was known for his exceptional skills, particularly for his rebounding and passing skills.
