Tom Heinsohn was an American professional basketball player and coach. He was born on August 26, 1934, in Jersey City, New Jersey. Heinsohn grew up playing basketball and quickly developed a passion for the sport. He played for St. Michael's High School in Union City, New Jersey, before attending Holy Cross College. Heinsohn's basketball career continued after college when he was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 1956. He played for nine seasons with the Celtics, winning eight NBA championships and earning four All-Star honors. Heinsohn was known for his scoring ability and rebounding skills. He was also a tough defender and had a fiery competitive spirit that inspired his teammates.
