Tony Allen, born on January 11, 1982, is a retired American professional basketball player. He played his college basketball at Oklahoma State University and was drafted in the first round of the 2004 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. Allen made his NBA debut in November 2004 and quickly became known as one of the league's best perimeter defenders.
Throughout his career, Allen played for several teams, including the Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, and Chicago Bulls. However, he is best remembered for his time with the Boston Celtics from 2004-2010. He was a member of the Celtics' 2008 championship team and was a key part of their defense. Allen was known for his aggressive and physical style of play, tenacious on-ball defense, and his ability to guard multiple positions.
In addition to being one of the game's top defensive players, Allen also developed into a solid offensive contributor. During his career, he averaged 8.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game.
