Tony Dumas Autographs
Tony Dumas is a former American professional basketball player who was born on August 25, 1972, in Lansing, Michigan. He attended McNeese State University, where he played college basketball for four years from 1990 to 1994. Dumas was a prolific scorer throughout his college career, averaging 23.4 points per game as a senior. He was also named the Southland Conference Player of the Year in 1994.
After graduating from college, Dumas was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the 1994 NBA draft with the 46th overall pick. During his rookie season, Dumas showed flashes of brilliance, averaging 15.8 points per game and shooting 37.5% from three-point range. However, injuries derailed his career, and he missed the entire 1995-96 season after undergoing knee surgery. Dumas played two more seasons in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns and the Detroit Pistons before his NBA career came to an end in 1998.
Dumas' career in professional basketball continued in Europe, where he played for several years with clubs in Italy, Greece, Spain, and France. He also played briefly in Asia with the Shanghai Sharks in China in 2002. Despite his many injuries, Dumas left a lasting legacy in basketball, particularly in college where he is still regarded as one of the best players in McNeese State University history. Today, he is retired from professional basketball and currently works as a motivational speaker and a basketball skills coach.
