Travis Best Autographs
Travis Best was born on July 12, 1972, in Springfield, Massachusetts. He is a retired American professional basketball player who enjoyed a 10-year career in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Best attended Springfield Central High School before transferring to Notre Dame Preparatory School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where he played basketball as a point guard. He subsequently attended Georgia Tech and helped lead the team to the NCAA championship game in 1990.
Best was drafted by the Indiana Pacers as the 23rd overall pick in the 1995 NBA draft. He played five seasons for the team and was a key player in the team's success during the late 1990s. He averaged 11.9 points and 5.2 assists per game during his tenure with the Pacers. Best won the NBA Most Improved Player Award during the 1998-99 season, when he increased his scoring average by almost 10 points per game, from 5.8 to 15.3. He played for several other NBA teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, and Chicago Bulls, before retiring in 2008. He finished his NBA career with averages of 7.6 points and 3.6 assists per game.
Best was known for his quickness, agility, and ability to get to the basket. He was also a solid defender and had a good outside shot. Best was a valuable player off the bench and helped lead the Pacers to the NBA Finals in 2000, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers. He represented the United States in international basketball competitions, winning a gold medal at the 1993 FIBA Under-19 World Championship and a bronze medal at the 1997 Summer Universiade. Best is now an assistant coach for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA G League.
