Tyus Edney Autographs
Tyus Edney was born on February 14, 1973, in Long Beach, California. He was a standout basketball player at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where he led the team to a state championship in his senior year. After receiving numerous scholarship offers, Edney decided to play for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins.
At UCLA, Edney had an outstanding college career, leading the team to the NCAA championship in 1995. It was an incredible run that included one of the most memorable moments in NCAA tournament history. In the second round of the tournament, Edney hit a game-winning layup with just 4.8 seconds remaining to beat Missouri. His buzzer-beater is still one of the most replayed plays in college basketball history.
Edney was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in the 1995 NBA draft. He played for six seasons in the NBA, mostly as a backup point guard. He spent two seasons with Sacramento Kings, one season with Boston Celtics, and then played few seasons abroad before returning to the NBA with the Indiana Pacers. He retired in 2006 after a brief stint with the Pacers. Despite not having a star-studded NBA career, Edney will always be remembered for his incredible college run and his clutch moments in the NCAA tournament.
