Willie Cauley-Stein was born on August 18, 1993, in Olathe, Kansas. He attended high school at Olathe Northwest and was a talented athlete, playing both basketball and football. He was a standout on the basketball court, and after his senior year, Cauley-Stein committed to play at the University of Kentucky.
During his time at Kentucky, Cauley-Stein emerged as one of the top big men in the country. In his sophomore and junior seasons, he was named to the All-SEC second team, and in his junior year, he was also named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year. In his three years at Kentucky, Cauley-Stein helped lead the team to two Final Fours and was selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings.
Since entering the NBA, Cauley-Stein has continued to impress with his defensive abilities and athleticism. He spent the first four years of his career with the Kings, where he averaged 10 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. In the 2019-20 season, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors, where he continued to produce with 7.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Cauley-Stein's length and versatility make him a valuable player on both ends of the court, and he is expected to continue making an impact in the NBA for years to come.
