Willis Reed is a former American professional basketball player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest centers in the history of the sport. Born on June 25th, 1942, Reed spent his youth in Hico, Louisiana, where he honed his skills on the local basketball court. In 1960, he moved to Grambling, Louisiana, to attend college where he played for the Grambling Tigers. He quickly established himself as a dominant force on the court, averaging 26 points and 17 rebounds per game during his final year in college. More about Willis Reed

After graduating from college, Willis Reed was drafted by the New York Knicks in the 1964 NBA draft. He played for the Knicks for his entire career, from 1964 to 1974, and played a key role in helping the team win two NBA championships in 1970 and 1973. Reed was an extremely talented center who was known for his strong rebounding and dominant post play. He was also a tenacious defender who was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team twice during his career.
