Willis Reed

Willis Reed is a former American professional basketball player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest centers in the history of the sport. Born on June 25th, 1942, Reed spent his youth in Hico, Louisiana, where he honed his skills on the local basketball court. In 1960, he moved to Grambling, Louisiana, to attend college where he played for the Grambling Tigers. After graduating from college, Willis Reed was drafted by the New York Knicks in the 1964 NBA draft. He played for the Knicks for his entire career, from 1964 to 1974, and played a key role in helping the team win two NBA championships in 1970 and 1973. Reed was an extremely talented center who was known for his strong rebounding and dominant post play. He was also a tenacious defender who was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team twice during his career. Reed was a seven-time NBA All-Star and was named the NBA Finals MVP in both of the Knicks' championship years.

Over the course of his career, Willis Reed cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players in NBA history. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982 and was named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1996. After retiring from basketball, Reed became a coach and executive in the NBA, working for several teams including the New Jersey Nets and the Memphis Grizzlies. His contributions to the sport of basketball on and off the court have left a lasting impact and he remains an important figure in the history of the game.
