Willie Ritchie Autographs
Willie Ritchie, born in 1891 in San Francisco, California, was a professional boxer widely known for his accomplishments in the welterweight and lightweight divisions. Ritchie began his boxing career at the age of 16, and by the time he was 18, he had established himself as a fierce competitor in the ring with an impressive record. In 1912, he won the world welterweight championship, making him one of the youngest fighters ever to achieve such a feat. Throughout his career, Ritchie was known for his powerful right-hand punch, quick footwork, and exceptional defensive skills.
In addition to winning the welterweight championship, Willie Ritchie also captured the lightweight championship in 1915, after defeating Freddie Welsh in a 20-round bout in San Francisco. This victory made him the first fighter to hold both the welterweight and lightweight titles simultaneously. Ritchie's career spanned over a decade, during which he fought against some of the most well-known boxers of his time, including Joe Gans, Ad Wolgast, and Benny Leonard. Although he retired from boxing in 1927, Ritchie remained involved in the sport, becoming a trainer and a referee.
