George Montgomery Autographs
George Montgomery was an American actor, director, and producer who is best known for his work in Western films during the 1940s and 1950s. Montgomery was born in Montana in 1916 and grew up on a ranch, which gave him a natural affinity for the Western genre. He briefly attended college before dropping out to pursue his acting career.
Montgomery made his film debut in the 1936 film "Sinner Takes All," and quickly made a name for himself in the Western genre. He starred in numerous films throughout the 1940s and 1950s, including "The Cisco Kid and the Lady," "Canyon Passage," and "Ride the Pink Horse." He also appeared in several non-Western films, including "They Were Expendable" and "The Battle of the Bulge." Montgomery transitioned to directing and producing in the 1960s, and worked behind the camera on several films, including "Master of the World" and "Colossus: The Forbin Project."
Despite his success in the film industry, Montgomery's personal life was fraught with drama. He was married five times and had numerous affairs. In the 1980s, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, which forced him to retire from the entertainment industry. He passed away in 2000 at the age of 84. However, his legacy in the Western genre lives on, and he is remembered as one of the most talented actors and filmmakers of his time.
