Jim Roberts Autographs
Jim Roberts was a Canadian ice hockey player born on May 28, 1940, in Toronto, Ontario. He played for the St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Montreal Canadiens in a career that spanned 11 seasons from 1965 to 1976. Roberts was renowned for his defensive prowess and was named the team captain in 1968 for the St. Louis Blues. In his career, he was a three-time Stanley Cup champion, winning two cups in 1966-67 with the Montreal Canadiens and another in 1974-75 with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Roberts began his professional career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1965 after being drafted by the team in the first round, 15th overall, in the NHL Amateur Draft. He played mostly in the minor leagues before becoming an essential part of the 1966-67 Canadiens roster that won the Stanley Cup. Midway through the following season, Roberts was traded to the St. Louis Blues, where he played until 1970.
After his tenure with the St. Louis Blues, Roberts played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and then, in 1973, he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens. He would remain there until the end of his career in 1976. Roberts was known for his versatility as he could play both forward and defense effectively. During his career, he amassed a total of 126 goals and 194 assists in 626 regular-season games. After his playing career ended, Roberts briefly coached the St. Louis Blues and continued participating in different roles in NHL programs.
