John Montague Autographs
John Montague was a former Major League Baseball pitcher who was born on August 13, 1957, in Texas. He grew up in Houston and attended Stephen F. Austin High School, where he developed a passion for baseball. After graduation, he earned a degree in business administration from Sam Houston State University. Montague was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1978 and commenced his professional baseball career with the Salem Pirates of the Class A Carolina League.
Montague's baseball career was primarily defined by his time with the Seattle Mariners in 1987. That year, he was a dependable relief pitcher for the Mariners, pitching in 60 games and recording a 5-5 record with a 2.91 ERA. Montague was the Mariners' closer for the majority of the 1988 season, finishing with 12 saves and a 4.88 ERA in 56 games. He retired from professional baseball in 1989 after making his final appearance with the Salt Lake City Gulls of the Pacific Coast League.
Off the field, Montague worked as a financial advisor and also served as a board member for the Southwest Regional Bank. Despite a brief period of success in the major leagues, Montague's baseball legacy is one of dedication, perseverance, and hard work. His commitment to the sport and his love for the game embody the spirit of baseball and serve as an inspiration to young players everywhere.
