Burns continued to make documentaries on various subjects, but baseball remained his first love. He produced several other baseball films, such as "The Tenth Inning," "Jackie Robinson," and "The Curse of the Bambino." Burns' love affair with baseball has been long-lasting, and he has said that "it is the most perfect of games, the one where you have to do everything right, and it has a perfect geometry." He has also credited the sport with helping him become a storyteller, as he believes that "the best stories in America are the ones that come from baseball."
