Ken Coleman Autographs

Ken Coleman was an iconic figure in the world of baseball broadcasting. Born on December 29, 1925, in Hartford, Connecticut, Coleman is known for his contribution in broadcasting baseball games throughout his career. He commenced his broadcasting profession in 1949 with a minor league team, the Hartford Chiefs. Coleman made a name for himself in the broadcasting world when he was active in the cities of Boston, Massachusetts and Baltimore, Maryland, announcing for the local teams in both places.
However, Ken Coleman's broadcasting success cannot be mentioned without acknowledging his contribution to the baseball game itself. Coleman's baseball career dates back to his high school days in Hartford, where he was a top pitcher. He even signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox while still in high school, but the Second World War delayed his calling. In 1954, Coleman was appointed by the Red Sox, where he worked as a promoter and contributed significantly to the team's success. He swapped the promoter role for that of a play-by-play commentator in 1966, and his electrifying storytelling style and signature "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls" catchphrase became his staple.
Ken Coleman's love for the game of baseball was evident in his contribution to the creation of the Ken Coleman Foundation. The Foundation's sole focus is to support cancer research efforts in Connecticut. Coleman passed away in 2003, but his passion for the sport continues to inspire many in the broadcasting world. His work on the radio made fans feel like they were present at the ballpark, and every play was unfolding right before their eyes. He forever will be an influential figure in the sports' history books.
