Eddy made his film debut in 1933 in the film King of Jazz, where he showcased his powerful baritone voice. He soon became a leading man in musical films and formed a popular on-screen partnership with Jeanette MacDonald. Together, they starred in eight films, including Naughty Marietta (1935), Rose-Marie (1936), and Maytime (1937). Eddy's singing and acting ability made him one of the most popular stars of the era.

Eddy's movie career slowed down in the 1940s, as he became more involved in opera and live performances. He continued to appear in films such as Northwest Outpost (1947) and The Red Shoes (1948), but he was more known for his work on stage. Throughout his career, Nelson Eddy recorded more than 200 songs, and his signature baritone voice continues to be celebrated by fans of classic Hollywood cinema.
