Nene, born Maybyner Rodney Hilário, is a Brazilian former professional basketball player. He began playing basketball at a young age, joining a local club team in Brazil before being discovered by scouts and moving to the United States to attend high school. After graduating from high school in the United States, Nene was drafted by the New York Knicks in the 2002 NBA draft. He was then traded to the Denver Nuggets, where he played for 10 seasons and became a fan favorite. He earned his first All-Star appearance in the 2012-2013 season, and shortly thereafter was traded to the Washington Wizards, where he played for four seasons before ultimately retiring in 2019.
