Red Adair Autograph

Red Adair, whose real name was Paul Neal Adair, was a prominent American oil-well firefighter born on June 18, 1915, in Houston, Texas. He is famous for putting out a series of oil rig fires in the 1960s and 1970s. Red Adair is best remembered for his service in the 1962 "Devil's Cigarette Lighter" fire in Algeria, the fire that raged out of control for six months and threatened to ignite six hundred more wells. This marked the start of Red Adair's international reputation as an expert in the field. Red Adair was also involved in extinguishing several other notable fires like the Kuwaiti oil well fires and an offshore platform in the North Sea. Red Adair was known for his innovative techniques that allowed him to put the fires out more quickly and safely than his competitors. Adair retired in 1993 and died in 2004 at his home in Houston, Texas aged 89.

Red Adair's work will forever be recorded in history. Oil rig fires are not only dangerous but also cause loss of revenue to companies where they occur.
