Born on August 21, 1908, in Durango, Colorado, Tully started his acting career in the theater before transitioning into film and television. Tully’s breakthrough role was in the 1951 film, “The Seven Little Foys,” where he played the role of Eddie Foy, the father of Eddie Foy Jr. This role earned him critical acclaim and set the tone for his future success in the entertainment industry. Tully appeared in several other notable films such as “The Caine Mutiny” (1954), “The Great White Hope” (1970), and “The Money Pit” (1986). He also made guest appearances on popular television shows such as “The Twilight Zone,” “Gunsmoke,” and “Perry Mason.”
Tully was admired by his colleagues for his professionalism and dedication to his craft. His contribution to the entertainment industry did not go unnoticed, and in 1979 he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He continued to act until the end of his life, making his final appearance in the television series “Murder, She Wrote” in 1987.
