Ace Parker Autographs

Ace ParkerAce Parker was an American football player who began his professional career in the 1930s. Born in North Carolina in 1912, Parker attended Duke University and played both football and baseball for the Blue Devils. He was a standout athlete who earned All-American honors in both sports, but it was the gridiron where he made his mark. Parker played quarterback and defensive back for Duke, earning the nickname "The Iron Duke" for his tough and durable playing style.
After college, Parker signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers of the National Football League. He played with the team for three seasons before being traded to the Boston Yanks. While with the Dodgers, Parker led the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns in 1940. The following year, he was named the league's Most Valuable Player after leading the Yanks to the playoffs. He was the first player in NFL history to receive that award. Parker retired from football in 1950, having played professionally for a total of ten seasons.
Despite his success on the field, Parker is perhaps best known for his baseball career. In addition to playing quarterback, he was an outfielder for several minor league teams and even made appearances with the Philadelphia Athletics and Cleveland Indians. Parker is the only athlete to have played in both the NFL and Major League Baseball All-Star Games. He was later inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. Ace Parker passed away in 2013 at the age of 101, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest multi-sport athletes of all time.
