Al Dorow Autographs
Al Dorow was an American football quarterback who played professionally from 1952 to 1961. Born on November 7, 1929, in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, Dorow earned a scholarship to play football at the University of Pennsylvania. During his college career, he was a two-time All-Ivy League selection and set a school record with 2,105 career passing yards.
After graduating from Penn in 1952, Dorow was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. He played sparingly for the Redskins as a rookie and was traded to the New York Titans (now the New York Jets) in 1960. It was with the Titans where Dorow had the best years of his career, leading the American Football League (AFL) in touchdown passes in 1960 and being named an AFL All-Star in 1961.
Dorow retired after the 1961 season at the age of 32. In his ten-year career, he threw for 8,352 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 78 interceptions. After his playing days were over, Dorow became a high school football coach in New Jersey and later worked for a steel company. He passed away on August 7, 2012, at the age of 82. Despite not being a household name, Al Dorow was a talented quarterback who had a significant impact on the early days of professional football in America.
