Alexander Mattison is a professional American football player who currently plays as a running back for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He was born on June 19, 1998, in San Bernardino, California. Mattison attended San Bernardino High School where he played football and was a two-time All-State selection. He rushed for 1,860 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior in high school, earning him a four-star rating by Rivals.com.
After graduating high school, Mattison committed to play college football at Boise State University where he continued his impressive form as a running back. In his sophomore season, he rushed for 1,415 yards and 17 touchdowns, earning him First-Team All-Mountain West honors. He was also named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week three times in the 2018 season. Mattison was then selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, where he has since played as a backup to star running back Dalvin Cook. In his rookie season, he played in 13 games and rushed for 462 yards and one touchdown.
Off the field, Mattison is known for his charitable work and giving back to his community. He created the Alexander Mattison Foundation, which is focused on supporting underprivileged children in his hometown of San Bernardino. He has also participated in a number of NFL initiatives to support education and give back to the community. With a promising career ahead of him, Mattison continues to inspire both on and off the field.
