Andre Brown is a former American football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons. Born on August 12, 1986, in Greenville, North Carolina, Brown attended Rose High School, where he played football and excelled as a running back and safety. In 2004, he completed a fantastic senior season, rushing for 1,757 yards and 28 touchdowns, leading his team to a state championship game. Brown went on to play college football at North Carolina State University, where he set multiple records, including the all-time single-game rushing record of 270 yards, and earned All-ACC and All-American honors.
Brown's NFL career began in 2009, when he was drafted by the New York Giants in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. He spent his rookie year on injured reserve due to a ruptured Achilles tendon but made his debut in 2010, playing in nine games as a backup running back. Brown had a breakout year in 2012, appearing in all 16 games and rushing for 385 yards and eight touchdowns. His performance earned him the nickname "Andre the Giant" and helped the Giants win Super Bowl XLVI. Over the next few seasons, Brown played for several NFL teams, including the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and Washington Redskins, before retiring in 2015.
Off the field, Brown is known for his philanthropic efforts, including his work with the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), a cause close to his heart, as his younger sister has Type 1 diabetes. Brown has also been praised for his work ethic, determination, and resilience, having bounced back from multiple injuries throughout his career. Today, he serves as a football analyst and commentator for various media outlets, sharing his expertise and passion for the game with fans worldwide.
