Andre Tippett Autographs
Andre Tippett was born on December 27th, 1959 in Birmingham, Alabama. He began playing football at an early age and continued throughout his high school years in Newark, New Jersey. Tippett was recruited to play for the University of Iowa, where he played linebacker and was named a team captain in his senior year. In 1982, the New England Patriots drafted Tippett in the second round, and his professional football career was born.
Tippett quickly became one of the most dominant linebackers in the NFL. He was named AFC Defensive Player of the Year in 1985 after recording 16.5 sacks and leading the league. Tippett’s ferocious playing style and big hits made him a fan favorite, but he was also an intelligent player known for his ability to read offenses and anticipate plays. He was selected to the Pro Bowl five times and was named first-team All-Pro three times during his career.
Tippett’s impact on the Patriots franchise cannot be overstated. He set several team records, including most sacks in a career (100), most sacks in a season (18.5), and most forced fumbles in a career (17). He played 11 seasons for the Patriots before retiring in 1993. Tippett was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008, cementing his place as one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history. Today, Tippett remains active in the Patriots organization as the team’s executive director of community affairs.
