Bob Devaney Autographs

Bob Devaney was an American football player and coach who is best known for his contributions to the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers. Born on April 13, 1915 in Saginaw, Michigan, Devaney played football at Alma College in Michigan and was a standout center. After graduation, he began his coaching career as an assistant at Michigan State before moving on to Missouri and Wyoming.
In 1962, Devaney was hired to be the head coach at the University of Nebraska, where he immediately turned the program around. He led the team to two national championships in 1970 and 1971 and was a four-time Big Eight conference Coach of the Year. Devaney's innovative style of offense and strong defensive schemes earned him national recognition as one of the greatest coaches of his era. His tenure at Nebraska lasted from 1962 to 1972 and ended with a record of 101-20-2.
After retiring from coaching, Devaney served as an administrator in the athletic department at Nebraska until his death on May 9, 1997. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1981, and his legacy lives on in the Nebraska football program, where the Bob Devaney Sports Center and the annual spring game trophy are named in his honor. Devaney is remembered as one of the most successful and legendary football coaches in American history, and his impact on the sport continues to be felt today.
