Bobby Dillon Autographs
Bobby Dillon was born on February 23, 1930, in Temple, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he played college football as a defensive back. Dillon was an All-American for the Longhorns in 1951 and 1952, and he was also named the Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year in each of those seasons. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 1952 NFL Draft and went on to play for the team until his retirement in 1959.
During his career with the Packers, Dillon was a standout defender who was known for his speed and ability to intercept passes. He led the NFL in interceptions in 1953 and was named a first-team All-Pro three times (1954, 1955, 1957). Dillon was also selected to the Pro Bowl four times (1954-1957) during his career. Despite playing in an era when passing offenses were not as prevalent as they are today, Dillon still managed to intercept 52 passes in just eight seasons, which is a Packers record that still stands today.
After his playing career ended, Dillon remained involved with the Packers organization, working as a scout and serving on the team's board of directors. In 1974, he was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, and he was also named to the NFL's 1950s All-Decade Team. Dillon passed away on August 22, 2019, at the age of 89. He is remembered as one of the greatest defensive backs in Packers history and an important figure in the early years of the NFL.
