Bobby Walden Autographs
Bobby Walden was born on September 15, 1936, in Cochran, Georgia. He started his American football career in college, playing for the University of Georgia Bulldogs as a punter, kicker, and quarterback. Walden was an All-SEC and All-American player in 1958, and during his time as a Bulldog, he set team records for punting distance and average yards per punt.
Walden's professional career started in 1959 when he signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a punter. In the following years, he played for several teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Washington Redskins. His career highlight came when he was named the punter of the "All-Decade Team" for the 1960s by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Walden retired in 1977, having played in 205 NFL games and amassed a total of 44,244 yards in punts.
After retiring from football, Walden became involved in several businesses and worked as an insurance agent. In 1993, he was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and in 2011, he was inducted into the University of Georgia Circle of Honor for his outstanding contributions to the football program. Walden passed away on December 27, 2011, at the age of 75. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest punters in the history of American football.
