Bret Bielema Autographs
Bret Bielema was born in 1970 in Prophetstown, Illinois. He attended the University of Iowa, where he played defensive lineman for the Hawkeyes from 1989 to 1992. Following his graduation from Iowa in 1992, Bielema began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater. He then spent time coaching at various colleges, including the University of Kansas, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Arkansas.
Bielema's most successful coaching stint came at the University of Wisconsin, where he served as head coach from 2006 to 2012. During his time at Wisconsin, Bielema led the Badgers to three straight Big Ten titles from 2010 to 2012. His teams were known for their dominant running game and stingy defense. Bielema also led the Badgers to three Rose Bowl appearances, including a victory in the 2012 game against Stanford.
In 2012, Bielema was hired as head coach of the University of Arkansas football team. He spent five seasons with the Razorbacks, but was ultimately fired in 2017 after a disappointing 4-8 record. Following his departure from Arkansas, Bielema spent time coaching in the NFL before returning to college football as an assistant coach at the University of Illinois in 2020. Throughout his career, Bielema has been known for his dedication to running the football and strong defensive play. While his coaching career has had its ups and downs, Bielema remains a respected figure in the world of American football.
