Leonard was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played for the team for three seasons, from 2007 to 2009, before being traded to the Cincinnati Bengals. He played for the Bengals for one season, in 2010, before being signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Leonard played for the Buccaneers for one season and then signed with the New Orleans Saints in 2013. However, he was released before the start of the 2014 NFL season, and he subsequently retired from professional football.

Throughout his NFL career, Leonard rushed for 646 yards and five touchdowns, and he also caught 173 passes for 1,299 yards and six touchdowns. While he was never a superstar in the league, Leonard was known for his versatility and his ability to make plays as a runner and a receiver out of the backfield. He was also highly respected by his teammates and coaches for his work ethic and his leadership qualities, and he was often called upon to mentor younger players. After retiring from football, Leonard founded a youth sports training company called Train 2 Be Clutch, which provides coaching and mentoring to young athletes.
