Brian Mitchell Autographs
Brian Mitchell is a former American football player who played for three different teams during his impressive career. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest return specialists in the history of the NFL. Mitchell started his football career in the college level where he played for Southwestern Louisiana (now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) as a running back. After finishing his college career, he was selected by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the 1990 NFL Draft.
Mitchell spent the first ten seasons of his NFL career with the Redskins, where he mainly served as a punt returner and kick returner. He was three times selected to the Pro Bowl and twice to the First-team All-Pro during this time. He also holds many NFL records, including most career punt return yards (4,999), most punt return yards in a season (685), and most kick returns for touchdowns (13). In 1994, he helped the Redskins to the Super Bowl XXIX but lost to the San Francisco 49ers.
After his time with the Redskins, Mitchell played two years with the Philadelphia Eagles (2000-2001) and one year with the New York Giants (2003). He continued to excel as a return specialist, finishing his career with a total of 14,014 return yards and nine touchdowns. In addition to his return skills, Mitchell was also a capable running back and receiver, finishing his career with 1,967 rushing yards and 2,336 receiving yards. In 2009, he was inducted into the Washington Redskins Ring of Fame to honor his contributions to the team.
