Broderick Thomas Autographs
Broderick Thomas was born on February 16, 1967, in Houston, Texas. He attended Lamar High School in Houston, where he played high school football as a linebacker. Thomas was a force to reckon with and was named to the All-Greater Houston and All-State teams. He received a scholarship to attend the University of Nebraska, where he dominated as a Cornhusker linebacker. He was named the Big Eight Conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 1987 and 1988. Thomas went on to be drafted in the first round, sixth overall, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1989 NFL Draft.
Broderick Thomas started his NFL career playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he spent four seasons. In his rookie season, he led the Buccaneers in sacks with nine and was instrumental in the team's defense. In 1991, he was traded to the Detroit Lions, where he played for three seasons. During his stint with the Lions, Thomas helped the team get to the playoffs in 1991 and 1993. He was named by Sports Illustrated to its NFL 1991 All-Pro team as an outside linebacker. He had a brief stint with the Minnesota Vikings and the Dallas Cowboys before he retired in 1999. Thomas ended his NFL career with 63 career sacks, 19 career forced fumbles, and seven career interceptions.
Off the field, Broderick Thomas was known for participating in charitable events, helping youths in his community, and encouraging them to pursue their dreams regardless of their backgrounds. He was inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 2001 and named one of Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 100 all-time greats in celebration of the team's 100th season. He currently lives in Houston, Texas, and still keeps up with NFL games, giving back to society, and enjoying time with his family.
