Bruce Matthews Autographs
Bruce Matthews is a former American football player who played for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans and the Tennessee Titans over a 19-year career. He was born on August 8, 1961, and attended USC (1980-82) where he played for their football team as an offensive lineman. Matthews was drafted by the Oilers in the first round of the 1983 NFL Draft and went on to become one of the most respected and durable offensive linemen in NFL history.
During his NFL career, Matthews made a whopping 14 Pro Bowls and nine All-Pro teams, the most of any offensive lineman in NFL history. He played in 296 games, starting 292 of them – both records for an offensive lineman, and was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2007. Matthews had the ability to play all five positions on the offensive line, and his versatility in this regard allowed his teams to shuffle linemen as other players were injured, without compromising on quality. He was known for being a ferocious blocker, and played in several of the most famous games in NFL history, including the 1999-2000 AFC Championship, and Superbowl XXXIV.
Matthews' work ethic, dedication, and longevity in the NFL made him a legend in the sport, and he is considered one of the greats. Off the field, Matthews is known for his work in the community, giving back to a sport that gave him so much. After retiring, he coached for the Houston Texans and was named a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019. Matthews is a true inspiration to football fans and players alike, and his contributions to the sport have truly cemented his place in NFL history.
