Bubby Brister is a former American football player who is renowned for his outstanding performances as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). Brister was born on August 15, 1962, in Monroe, Louisiana. He attended northern Louisiana's Neville High School and went on to play college football for Louisiana Tech University. In 1986, Brister was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the NFL Draft, beginning his professional football career.
Brister played fourteen seasons in the NFL while playing for teams such as the Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings. During his stint with the Steelers, he served as a backup for Terry Bradshaw and then became the team's starting quarterback in the late 1980s. Brister led the Steelers to the playoffs in his first year as a starter, and the team made it to the second round, defeating the Houston Oilers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Over the course of his career, Brister had a total of 2,951 completions in 5,466 attempts for 31,212 yards, with 212 touchdown passes and 187 interceptions. He also won two Super Bowl rings with the Broncos in 1997 and 1998 while serving as the backup quarterback to John Elway. Today, Bubby Brister is a football analyst and commentator for the NFL network, providing expert analysis and insight into various NFL games, teams, and players.
