Burt Grossman Autograph

Burt Grossman is a former American football defensive end who played for the San Diego Chargers from 1989 to 1994 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 1995. He was born on July 5, 1967, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Grossman began playing football in high school and later played for the University of Pittsburgh where he had a successful career as a defensive end, earning All-American honors in 1988. Grossman was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the first round of the 1989 NFL Draft as the eighth overall pick. In his rookie year, he quickly established himself as a dominant pass rusher, earning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He recorded a total of 10.5 sacks and 1 interception that season. Grossman continued to play at a high level throughout his career with the Chargers, helping them reach the playoffs in 1992 and 1994. After a one year stint with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1995, he retired from football in 1996.

After his football career, Grossman became a sports commentator, working for various media outlets including ESPN and The NFL Network. He also worked as a financial advisor and was involved in several philanthropic causes. In 2013, Grossman was inducted into the University of Pittsburgh Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding career as a football player.
