Calvin Hill was a renowned American football player born on January 2, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland. He is best known for his stellar performances as a running back for various teams in the National Football League (NFL) during the 1960s and 70s. Hill played college football at Yale University, where he gained national recognition as an All-American and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1969.
Calvin Hill's professional football career spanned a decade, starting with the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent the first six seasons of his career. His most productive season with the team was in 1972, where he rushed for a career-high 1,036 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. Hill was an integral part of the Cowboys team that reached Super Bowl VI, where he played a vital role in their 24-3 victory over the Miami Dolphins. After leaving the Cowboys in 1976, Calvin Hill played for the Washington Redskins and the Cleveland Browns before retiring in 1981.
Hill's accomplishments in football are highly praised and recognized. He was a four-time Pro Bowler and made the All-Pro team twice in his career. Additionally, Hill was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor in 2002.
