Charles Johnson is a former American Major League Baseball player born on July 20, 1971, in Fort Pierce, Florida. He played as a catcher in the MLB from 1994 to 2005. Johnson was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 28th round in 1989 out of Westwood High School in Fort Pierce, Florida. Johnson started his baseball career with the Florida Marlins and spent his first eight seasons with the team from 1994 to 2001. He helped the Marlins win the World Series championship in 1997, and Johnson was named the National League Championship Series MVP. After his time in Florida, he played for the Baltimore Orioles, the Chicago White Sox, the Colorado Rockies, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the Montreal Expos, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. During his playing career he was one of the best catchers in the game, earning four Gold Glove awards, and was known for his excellent defense, his strong throwing-arm and abilities to handle pitching staffs. Johnson was also a two-time MLB All-Star (1997, 2001) and won two Silver Slugger awards, one in 1995 and another in 1997.

In 2006, Johnson retired from baseball and became a television baseball analyst for FOX. In addition, he has been involved in various business enterprises, including owning a Chevrolet dealership in Florida. Johnson was inducted into the University of Miami's Sports Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Florida Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. With his precise catching, throwing arm and defensive abilities, Charles Johnson is regarded as one of the most successful catchers in Major League Baseball.
