Charlie Waters

Charlie Waters is a retired American football player who made a mark in the National Football League (NFL) during his professional career. Waters was born on September 10th, 1948, in Miami, Florida, and attended the University of Texas, where he played college football. He was one of the most valuable players for the Longhorns and contributed to the team's winning season in 1969. Waters was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1970 and began his career as a safety. With the Dallas Cowboys, Waters played in three Super Bowls and helped the team win Super Bowl VI and Super Bowl XII. He was known for his exceptional defensive skills and was nicknamed "The Earthquake" for his hard-hitting tackles. Waters' six interceptions in 1975 earned him a spot as the Pro Bowl safety. He had played ten seasons in the NFL, all with the Dallas Cowboys, and retired in 1981. Waters was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 1996 for his achievements in American football.

After his retirement from American football, Waters pursued a career in scouting and coaching. He worked as a scout for the Indianapolis Colts and was an assistant coach for the Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Waters is also an author and wrote two books, titled "Bootlegger's Boy" and "The Last Cowboy." He currently resides in the Dallas area and is actively involved in charity work, specifically, fundraising for the North Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
